Back to School
Some teachers are gearing up for back to school and coming to terms that their beloved Summer is over. Meanwhile, here in Georgia, we’ve been back at it for a few weeks now. I just want to share a few simple touches that I added to my classroom to help make it feel more welcoming for my students and I. Recently, I received a couple of complimentary orchids from the folks over at Silk Plants Direct to review. Since my home already has flowers in pretty much every room except for the boys’ rooms and the laundry room, I decided why not take the lovely florals back to school to add some much-needed atmosphere to my classroom.
I just love these pair of Phalaenopsis orchids! You have to look very closely to see that they’re not real. The flower petals are not actually silk, but more of a latex material; giving them their realistic appearance. If you didn’t know better, you’d think they were the real thing, and the moss and root details in the glass vase aren’t any help. These two orchids retail for $23.99 each on the Silk Plants Direct’s website. I think that they really soften the interior of my 1960’s-built classroom, don’t you?
