Paula Deen: The Lady and Sons Restaurant
During a day of thrifting, I found myself in downtown Savannah, Georgia, and decided to treat myself. I’d heard mixed reviews about the restaurant of Paula Deen: The Lady and Sons Buffet. I heard the food was both good and average and that the wait to get in was ridiculous, so curiosity and hunger led me to see for myself. I was not afraid to eat alone.
The restaurant is located at 102 W Congress street in a 2-story building in Savannah, Georgia near the riverfront. On the lower level, in a separate entrance, there is a store selling all things Paula Deen. The restaurant was on both the lower and upper levels of the building.
Where was I? Oh…the food. I ate from the buffet. I had the fried chicken, mashed potatoes, string beans, macaroni and cheese, sweet potatoes, cornbread, and the complimentary journey cake and garlic biscuit. Needless to say, I was stuffed. Everything was seasoned to perfection, and tasted fresh and home cooked. Oh, I almost forgot to mention the Ooey Gooey Buttercake, that thang know it was good! The scary thing about it is that I almost didn’t get it. The waiter had to sell me on it. I had planned to take the cake home and save it for later, but I messed around and tasted it in the car. Poor thing; cake never made it out of Savannah.
The Parking Fiasco
What I am now afraid of is getting lost in the parking garage again like a rat in a maze. It took me 30 minutes to get out of the parking garage after I left the restaurant! I started having thoughts about what would happen if the garage collapsed on me, but I digress.
Overall, my experience at The Lady and Sons restaurant was great. I received great customer service from the my waiter, the atmosphere was pleasant, clean, and inviting. I would definitely eat there again, but I’m not so sure I’ll be parking in the garage! Would you still patronize a controversial public figure?
