For deep conditioning I always wash my hair first and use some type of hair masque, such as Shea Moisture's MANUKA HONEY & MAFURA OIL INTENSIVE HYDRATION MASQUE or just a regular conditioner. Either way, I sit under a hooded dryer for 20-30 minutes with a plastic shower cap over my hair, and then I rinse with cool water to close the hair cuticles back up.

What is your process of deep conditioning and what products do you use? Is it best to wash the hair before doing it?

Could this process be used for short natural hair? If not, what would be your suggestion? Also, how do you know and address the different porosities of your hair?

I definitely think that it can. High porosity hair rarely needs any special care. Low porosity hair doesn't easily let water/moisture into your hair shaft. It can appear drier and courser than the rest of your hair. I have a patch of low porosity hair. The way that I deal with it is by steaming my hair and then sealing it during my wash 'n go routine. Steaming allows the cuticles to open up and take in water, and the sealing allows the hair to retain the moisture. A video on steaming is coming soon!

Where do you buy your products? Could you post pics of them so I can see exactly what they look like, please?
